Waller Family Farm was purchased by Broughton and Lubie Waller in 1943. Together with their son Bill, they were the basic family farm of the times. Tobacco was the main crop with grains, cows, pigs, and chickens keeping everybody busy. In 1957 Bill married Helen and together they had two children, Karen and Mark. Today Mark and his wife Pam continue to farm the land despite the changing times. Over the years, tobacco has been replaced by strawberries but they still have cows, chickens, and now horses. The local deer population has put them out of the grain production and much of the land they once farmed has now been developed.
